Florida Jazz Express Brings Patriotic Big Band Sound to New Tampa Performing Arts Center This Sunday

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Independence Day weekend gets an extra encore this year. Florida Jazz Express returns to the New Tampa Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 5, for a Fourth of July big band concert packed with patriotic standards and the kind of summer-soundtrack classics that make the holiday weekend feel complete.

Florida Jazz Express is made up of some of the busiest working musicians in the state — players with résumés that include backing some of the biggest names in the business. For this show, they're trading their usual mixed setlist for an all-patriotic, all-summer program performed in true big band style: horns blazing, full rhythm section, and the kind of arrangements built for a room that wants to clap along.

The Vibe

NTPAC's setup blends two seating styles — cabaret-style tables and chairs on the floor level, with elevated theater-style rows behind. It's a flexible, low-key way to take in a show: grab a table with friends for a more social night, or settle into a theater seat if you'd rather just listen.

Why It's Worth Going

A Sunday matinee with a full big band isn't something Wesley Chapel and New Tampa residents get the chance to catch every week. With the official Fourth of July fireworks behind you by the time Sunday rolls around, this is a relaxed, air-conditioned way to keep the patriotic spirit going without standing in a crowd.
