Mama B's Pizzeria Celebrates Expansion and Redesign on SR 56

WESLEY CHAPEL / PASCO COUNTY, FL — A neighborhood pizza favorite just got more room to grow. Owners Chuck Locke, Brenda Bening-Thompson and David Thompson have completed an expansion and redesign of Mama B's Pizzeria on State Road 56, taking over the space next door that was formerly a children's shoe store.

What's New

The newly expanded and redesigned interior includes a new bar area alongside the restaurant's existing dining room, giving Mama B's more room to handle busy weekend crowds. The trio purchased the former Pomodoro restaurant in December 2022 and relaunched it as Mama B's in July 2023, building a following around owner Brenda Bening-Thompson's homemade recipes. "I'm not Italian," Bening-Thompson has said, "but I am 'Mama B' and all of the recipes we make here are mine."

Why It Matters for Wesley Chapel

Mama B's has built a loyal local following since opening, and the expansion signals a neighborhood restaurant outgrowing its original footprint — a good sign for a small, family-owned business in a corridor increasingly dominated by chains.
