Last Saturday, September 19, the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final USA took place at the Tampa Convention Center, bringing together 16 of the nation's top street dancers for the competition's first-ever stop in the Tampa Bay area.

The dancers competed in high-energy, one-on-one battles set to surprise tracks chosen live, forcing each competitor to interpret the music on the fly rather than rely on rehearsed choreography. The audience voted live after every round to decide who advanced, with fans using LED wristbands to cast their votes — and for the first time, an online audience got a vote too.

In the end, 18-year-old JREAMZ of Arizona took the national title, bringing a krump and hip-hop-influenced style that had the crowd erupting by the finale. "I was preparing by being myself and having fun," she said after the win. "I think dance is all about having fun and not overthinking much."

JREAMZ will represent the United States at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Zurich, Switzerland, on October 24.

The night also featured a showcase performance from R&B singer and dancer Omarion, along with exhibition battles pulling in past champions and Tampa's own dance talent.

The atmosphere was electric, with incredible performances, powerful music and nonstop energy from both the dancers and the Tampa crowd.
