Wesley Chapel Water Bills Rise Oct. 1 as Pasco Funds Wesley Center Plant Expansion

WESLEY CHAPEL / PASCO COUNTY, FL — Pasco County Utilities bills go up Wednesday for most Wesley Chapel households, as the second year of a four-year rate schedule takes effect. The average residential customer using 6,000 gallons a month will see their bill climb from $91.99 to $96.32, a $4.33 increase, county records show.

Where the Money Is Going

The increase funds infrastructure Wesley Chapel residents rely on every day. A large share is earmarked for expanding the Wesley Center Wastewater Treatment Facility on Boyette Road from 6.0 million gallons a day to 9.0 million gallons a day — one of two major plant expansions driving the rate plan, alongside a second project in Land O' Lakes. County staff cited these two expansions as the single biggest driver behind the new rate schedule.

Why the Pipes Need the Money

Pasco's utility system is growing fast along with the county, and Wesley Chapel's rooftops keep multiplying. Treatment plants built for a smaller population need room to grow, and pipes laid decades ago need replacing before they fail.

What's Already Locked In

This is only year two of a four-year plan. County commissioners approved the full schedule on Sept. 3 following a public hearing process that began in August 2025: a 3.75% increase took effect in FY2026, and 4.75% annual increases are already locked in for FY2027, FY2028 and FY2029. Reclaimed water customers are also seeing adjustments, including a higher base charge and revised per-1,000-gallon tiers.

Why It Matters for Wesley Chapel

The rate changes apply to Pasco County Utilities customers, which covers most of Wesley Chapel. With three more years of scheduled increases already on the books, residents can expect their water and sewer bills to keep climbing gradually each October through 2029 — a predictable, if unwelcome, line item as the county works to keep pace with the area's growth.
